Hammond Report January 12 2021 from Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from the organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story about a steady gig I had with the late great Lou Colombo - trumpet player, bandleader, pro baseball player, golfer - an actual recording I made on the bandstand 43 years ago in the Wychmere Harbor Club in Harwich Port MA Cape Cod. It was an exclusive club where we played for members speaker of the house, Lee Berk the founder of my alma mater. I visited Louie a few years ago in Fort Myers FL where he played in his daughter's restaurant, and sadly just a few days later Lou was killed driving home from his gig there - RIP Lou Colombo! Frank Shea on the band here playing drums, yours truly at the Hammond B3 organ - my intro is my theme song Late Rent from my radio program HammondCast which ran for 4 years daily on CBS KYOU and KYCY 1550 AM.
