Hammond Report August 19 2021 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from the organ player & accordionist Jon Hammond - today's music story, I'm playing a lunch time gig in Downtown San Francisco, California at 50 UN Plaza (San Francisco) - it was a hot day, and yesterday and today the skies over San Francisco are very smokey from the fires. I was in Czech Republic 4 times (I am the musician, not the singer) played in there in AghaRTA Jazz Centrum in Prague. The time when I came there by train from Germany, we changed trains in Nurnberg, traveling with my friend Akio from Japan - when we came to CHEB, the passport control came on the train, he stamped my USA passport - he had a wooden box he was wearing, when he took Akio's Japan passport, he opened the stupid box and put Akio's passport in and said in a broken English "You must get off the train" - and they took my friend away! Long story, but they shook him down for money after terrorizing him speaking only in Czech. He joined me in Prague on Boatel in the river next day, and we made some action there in a music fair. When we went back to Germany on the train, the same sob was just waiting, and they took him again! And then, there was the time we almost got stuck in Teplice! (another story) - I don't think will be going back there again any time soon! - you can see in 2nd photo when we changed trains in Nurnberg bahnhof - I bought some batteries for my camera there, not my favorite place!
