Hammond Report August 18 2020 from Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story about the quintet gig I played with my band opening up Smalls Jazz Club in 1994 shortly after I had returned to NYC from an entire year living over in Paris France.
Mitch Borden the eccentric founder of Smalls asked me to put my band together for this gig - actual footage, we're playing my original tune "Lydia's Tune" I composed in Paris, with pictures in Paris France and current news commentary - on the band, tenor saxophonist Alex Foster, Chuggy Carter congas & percussion, Ray Grappone drums, Barry Finnerty guitar and yours truly Jon Hammond at the well-traveled XB-2 Hammond organ.
