Hammond Report July 25 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond

Hammond Report July 25 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - daily Music & Stories from organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story about the time in 1996 when I was living in Hamburg Germany and I asked Uwe Petersen (drums) if he could play a gig with me and Tony Lakatos (tenor saxophonist) in trio, first time in Jazzkeller Hofheim - so Uwe drove us all the way down to Hofheim am Taunus in his kombi (station wagon) and we had a soundcheck, and nice dinner - even a hotel! Here is the gig and the story, and big congratulations to Tony for his biography book that just came out by author Rainer Erd! I hope I can read it if an English version comes out - at least I can look at the pictures (we are not in the book) - everybody stay safe out there, mask-up in public, Jon Hammond told ya' so! I'll be back tomorrow with another Hammond Report.

JazzFresno, the Fresno County Public Library, and the Friends of Woodward Park Library will host a free and open to the public Jazz @ the Library presentation on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Woodward Park Regional County Library, located at 944 E. Perrin Ave. (Champlain & Perrin), Fresno, CA 93720.

The Hammond B3 organ has been an important instrument in church, jazz, blues, rock and pop music. The title of the February presentation is “The Classic Hammond Sound…In a Suitcase!” Please join us as presenter Jon Hammond (no relation), an internationally known electronic organist, takes us on a journey exploring the development and use of the Hammond B3 organ and its contemporary surrogate, the SK1 Hammond. Jon will be joined by Gary Newmark (drums) and Rich Severson (guitar) in playing what Jon describes as “Swinging Funky Jazz and Blues.” - Fresno County Woodward Park Regional Library
